A LUDLOW man caught with a cache of illegal weapons has been jailed after failing to turn up for appointments.
Robin John Young admitted one count of failing to comply with the community requirements of a suspended sentence order when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster in January.
The court heard from the probation service that Young, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Gary Harper, had been handed a suspended sentence order by magistrates in Worcester in June 2023.
The suspended sentence was imposed after he was convicted of 12 counts of possessing a weapon at his private address in Sandpits, Ludlow, on March 1 last year and one count of failing to surrender to custody at Telford Magistrates Court on May 23 having been released on bail in criminal proceedings by magistrates on March 29.
The weapons convictions related to six zombie knives, two push knives, a butterfly knife, and three flick knives.
But, magistrates in January heard, the 48-year-old had failed to comply with probation appointments on June 23 and September 14, and had further failed to provide the required evidence to reasonably excuse his absence.
The suspended sentence of 24 weeks, suspended for 12 months, was implemented as a prison sentence of 18 weeks.
