A LOCAL school bus driver will be undertaking a challenging feat for charity.
Peter Jackson, who drives for Moor Park School, will be climbing the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, Kilimanjaro, later this year to raise funds for groups who support those who live with heart conditions and Reynaud’s syndrome.
Mr Jackson has been preparing for the difficult trek by climbing a number of mountains and hills that are a bit closer to home, including scaling Snowden twice, with plans to take on Ben Nevis soon.
Mr Jackson said he hopes to raise £8000 in total, with his GoFundMe campaign open to donations at www.gofundme.com/f/an-old-trekker-needs-a-bit-of-help
“It is an extreme event, especially as I shall then be 76 years young. It has also been at the top of my ' to do' list for years,” he said.
“In the last 12 years, I have raised thousands helping different Charities by walking and climbing, from the National 3 Peaks Challenge, Ben Nevis, Snowdon, Pen-Y-Fan and completing the Worcestershire Way in one day, plus many more.”
