A WOMAN caught out driving on the A49 at Ludlow without a licence or a seatbelt has been fined by magistrates.

Leanne Bennett was proven guilty of one count of driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and one count of driving a motor vehicle whilst not wearing a seatbelt by magistrates in December.

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 33-year-old, who was not present at the hearing, had been caught out after getting behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Astra without a valid driving licence authorising her to drive a vehicle of that class on the A49 at Ludlow on May 15.

She was also driving on the same date without wearing a seatbelt, magistrates in Worcester were told.

Bennett, of Brook Road, Craven Arms, was fined a total of £440 and received three penalty points for the offences. She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £90 and a £176 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
