LUDLOW Council has been accused of having "utterly failed" locals as work repair a historic wall is still yet to start.

A section of the town wall collapsed in February of 2013, damaging a parked car and garages early and leaving Ludlow’s garden of rest as well as an area around the back of the Compass pub covered in rubble.

There followed a debate as to who was responsible for the walls, with Ludlow Town Council eventually deciding it was their responsibility.

While a number of investigations have been undertaken to determine what needs doing and temporary metal fences have been erected to protect members of the public it appears that no extensive restorative work has yet been undertaken.

Many have taken to the Ludlow Residents Group to complain about the issue, including Shropshire councillor Andy Boddington who said: “Ludlow Town Council has utterly failed the town over the wall.

“I agree with a more aesthetic fence though it will need to be mounted on blocks, not driven into the graveyard.

“The area behind should only be cut once or twice a year to maintain biodiversity.”
