A DRIVER caught flouting a red light on a busy main road has been fined by magistrates.

Matthew Moffat of Dahn Drive in Ludlow entered a guilty plea to one count of failing to comply with a light signal to magistrates in December.

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 42-year-old had been caught failing to comply with the indication given by a traffic sign, namely a red light traffic signal lawfully placed on the A38 Gloucester Road in Filton, south Gloucestershire, while behind the wheel of a car on May 2.

Moffat was fined £146 and received three penalty points for the offence, with magistrates in Bath saying that they had taken his guilty plea into account when deciding on the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £90 and a £58 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
