THERE will be changes to bin collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

In Shropshire, changes start this Saturday (December 23) and will continue on Saturday, January 6.

If you would normally have your bins collected on Christmas Day, this will now be this Saturday, while Boxing Day collections will instead be on Wednesday (December 27).

Bins will also be picked up a day later for households who normally have theirs collected on December 28 and 29 respectively.

This will continue in the New Year up until January 6, with collections returning to normal on Monday, January 8.

The five recycling centres in Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Bridgnorth and Craven Arms will remain open from 9am to 5pm, apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

People are asked to ensure their bins are out by 7am on the revised collection day.

In the Wyre Forest, meanwhile, there will just be one planned change over the festive season.

If your rubbish would normally be emptied on Boxing Day, this will instead be collected on Saturday, December 30.

Please make sure that your bin is out by 6am on the collection day.

Anyone who falls under Herefordshire Council's jurisdiction is also advised that there will be changes.

Bins that would normally be collected on Christmas Day or Boxing Day will instead be picked up on Saturday, December 30, and Sunday, December 31 respectively.

There will also be a revised date for collections on New Year's Day, with those bins instead being collected on Saturday, January 6.

All Herefordshire household waste and recycling centres are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
