AN antique valuation event in Ludlow has been hailed a great success.

Several items valued at more than £5,000 were consigned to Halls Fine Art auction house at an event in Fishmore Hall Hotel and Boutique Spa.

Among the items consigned were a collection of jewellery, watches and a Chinese censer with a combined valuation of £4,500, and an equestrian brooch by Rosemary Hetherington. Silver and watches were also valued during the event.

Due to the success of the free event, Halls Fine Art plans to hold three valuation days at the same venue in Ludlow next year, on March 13, July 17, and November 13.

“It was a very busy and enjoyable event as we received a very warm welcome from the people who booked appointments,” said silver and jewellery specialist, Maryanne Lineker-Mobberley.

“Many of them liked the fact that we are a Shropshire-based company.

“The people we met either consigned items for future auction or wanted to have an updated valuation of their treasured pieces. Subsequently, we arranged home visits to view a range of collections and hope to have the opportunity to sell some of the interesting items at auction during 2024.

“Due to the demand for our services, we shall we holding quarterly valuation events in in Ludlow next year. In the meantime, we would be delighted to hear from South Shropshire residents who wish to sell or receive a professional evaluation of their collections or individual items.”
