A WORCESTERSHIRE footballer has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in compensation after buying fuel for personal use with a business fuel card.
Matthew Gwynne entered a guilty plea to one count of fraud by false representation when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster in November.
The 31-year-old is a goalkeeper for Hereford Pegasus and was previously picked by the England Blind Football team. He has also played for Westfields and Worcester City.
The court heard from prosecutor Valerie Hart that Gwynne had dishonestly made a false representation in Hatfield in Herefordshire on November 15 and November 23, 2022.

He had used a fuel card belonging to NJL Stone Solutions to buy fuel for personal use, intending to cause loss to the business director or to expose them to loss, magistrates were told.
Gwynne, of Clifton-on-Teme, Worcestershire, was handed a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of £610.75, prosecution costs of £185, and a £95 victim surcharge.
Last month, Carlos Moreira was also told to pay the same amount in compensation after pleading guilty to the same charge.
The 26-year-old is a teammate of Gwynne's at Hereford Pegasus.
