MORE than £2,500 has been raised for the Royal British Legion by Ludlow Air Cadets in this year's Poppy Appeal.

In a Facebook post, a spokesperson for the Air Cadets wrote: "We have collected the magnificent sum of £2,684.65 for this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

"Thank you to everyone who made a donation over our three days of selling. As ever, the generosity of the people of Ludlow never ceases to amaze."

The Ludlow Air Cadets are a group of teenagers aged 12 to 17 with an interest in aviation. They are one of over 1,000 squadrons of Royal Air Force cadet groups around the country.

They were raising money for the Poppy Appeal, an annual campaign in remembrance of armed forces personnel lost at war.

Poppies are worn as a symbol of support for the remembrance period and the armed forces community, with the Poppy Appeal each year organised by the Royal British Legion.

The money it raises go towards supporting the armed forces community in several different ways, like providing financial advice to families of serving personnel and veterans, as well as supporting their mental health, wellbeing and more.
