HUNDREDS of people turned out in Tenbury Wells at the weekend for the annual Christmas lights switch-on.

The event at the Regal on Saturday (November 18) featured live music from The Rat Pack who later performed their ‘Christmas in Vegas’ show.

DJ Shaun O'Toole was the compere and also provided the music, while there was a special visit from Mother Christmas, who announced the winners of this year’s Golden Ticket Winners – a competition for the Children of Tenbury Wells.

"It was a great turn-out this year and enjoyed by people of all ages with a lovely atmosphere," said the Regal spokesperson, Erika Wooding.

"PA and staging for the event were supplied by the Regal. A huge thank you to the Regal team of volunteers for helping support the event and helped dress the Regal for the occasion."

Sarah Thompson, chairperson of Tenbury Chamber of Trade, said the lights on Teme Bridge will be switched on due course. They couldn't be turned on at the weekend due to work taking place in the river.

The light switch-on is one of a number of festive events happening in the town.

The annual Mistletoe Festival and Santa Parade takes place on Saturday, December 2, while Aladdin is this year's pantomime, running from December 15 to 31.
