A SINGING star will be joining the procession for this year's Ludlow Tree of Light.

Once again this Christmas, Ludlow Rotary Club is offering everyone the opportunity to shine a light in memory of a loved one, to celebrate a special occasion or to send good wishes to friends or family by making a dedication and donation.

The Tree of Light, organised by the town’s Rotarians, has been a much-loved part of the Ludlow Christmas celebrations for over a decade.

At 5pm on Saturday 25 November members of the public are invited to join a torchlight procession led by the Rocksprings Community Choir and singing star Macy O'Neill, better known as Macy O, from the Market Square to the Tree of Light, located in Castle Gardens.

Macy O, from Highley in Shropshire, has been popular with visitors to Ludlow market, where she often sings as her parents run a stall.

The 15-year-old was even invited to sing for 5,000 with Bastille frontman Dan Smith during a concert at Ludlow Castle. Over the same star-studded weekend, she also met Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson, who stopped to give her a £20 tip while she was busking.

The lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Ludlow, Councillor Glenn Ginger, and the tree will remain lit until Twelfth Night on January 6.

Forms containing full information on how to submit a dedication may be obtained from St Laurence’s Parish Church, Nock Deighton Estate Agents or downloaded from www.ludlowrotaryclub.org.uk.

All dedications received by December 13 will be published in the Christmas edition of the Ludlow Advertiser.

A complete list of dedications received by Twelfth Night will be recorded on the Ludlow Rotary Club website.

A minimum donation of £5 per dedication is invited with all funds received earmarked by Ludlow Rotary Club for local community projects. Last year some £600 was raised through the Tree of Light.
