A SWIMMING club is looking to raise £20,000 after a fall in members and an increase in pool hire costs.

Ludlow Swimming Club has been running for 30 years, having been the club of swimming champion Oliver Morgan. However, since the pandemic, it has declined in membership and faces hikes in costs to keep going.

It is raising money to pay for its bills for 2024, which will enable it to continue providing young people with access to swimming coaching. The cost of the town's swimming pool is £20,000 per year.

Some individual members have also been fundraising for the pool, like Callen Gill who swam the equivalent of a marathon and raised £1,000 for the club.

The swimming club has a Crowd Funder page, which says: "The money from this crowdfunding will help to pay the pool hire fees for 2024. As a result we will be able to run gala events and raise income for the club. Even some of our young members have been running their own events to support the club.

"It is a friendly place where children can meet new friends, build self esteem, maintain a healthy body and gain confidence that will stay with them for life."

So far the club has raised £460 on its online Crowd Funder, and has a long way to go to reach its £20,000 target. There is only around a month of time left on the Crowd Funder to raise this cash.
