WE are getting calls from people who have accidentally disturbed hedgehog nests whilst gardening. Female hedgehogs may abandon or even kill their young if disturbed, so to give them all the best chance, nests should be put back in place.
Meat based pet food and fresh water can be left in the garden so mum doesn't have to travel too far from the nest. Keep an eye on them from a distance, if mum disappears or the young are out on their own they probably need rescuing. In this case call us on 01584 890801 for advice and the number of a local hedgehog carer.
