FIREFIGHTERS in Ludlow are raising funds and awareness for Movember by growing out their moustaches.

Ludlow Fire Station have raised over £600 since they started this year's Movember challenge to raise awareness of men's health issues including mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Movember is a campaign that encourages people to show their support by growing their facial hair throughout November.

In a Facebook post, the fire station said: "Movember is more than just growing moustaches; it's a movement aimed at shining a spotlight on critical men's health issues.

"The crew at Ludlow station are donning our 'staches this month. We're not just raising funds; we're raising awareness and hope for a healthier future for all. Together, we can make a change, one moustache at a time."

A spokesperson for the fire station told the Ludlow Advertiser: "Ludlow Fire Station proudly continues its support for Movember for the second consecutive year, aiming to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. Our unwavering commitment is fueled by the shared dedication of our crew members to address issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. The fire station seeks to make a positive impact on the well-being of men in our community and beyond.

"Last year, two of our members successfully raised close to £800. This year, with 10 members growing moustaches, we aspire to amplify awareness and set a fundraising target of £2,000. As a station deeply invested in community engagement, we take pride in our consistent efforts to fundraise for local causes and charities."
