A PLOUGHING match held near Tenbury has raised hundreds of pounds for a lifeline charity.

Stoke Bliss Agricultural Society's ploughing match at Wolferlow Court raised a total of £500 for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Hosted by the Edwards family, the event saw displays of horse ploughing and tractor ploughing alongside a range of competitions, including fo preserves and drinks, handicrafts, photography, art, floral art, and horticulture.

There was also children's entertainment through the day, along with children's competitions, while catering and a bar kept the hunger pangs away.

The money raised, which was presented to the charity by chairman Andrew Pitt, will go towards helping continue the lifesaving work done by the air ambulance.

According to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, it costs £13 to 14 million to maintain their three aircraft and provide a lifesaving service each year, with each air ambulance mission costing an average of £2,950.

Each critical care car mission costs £288 on average.

The charity does not receive funding from the Government or National Lottery for its daily missions, and relies entirely on the support and generosity of local people and businesses.
