A LUDLOW Brewery beer has won a prestigious award.

Jam Dunk tropical beer won the highest accolade at Ludlow Food Festival. It scooped the gold award at the annual food festival ‘Oscars’ for best new product.

The drink was a collaborative project between the brewery and The Jam Factory, an indie bar, food and music venue based in Widemarsh Street, Hereford.

Head brewer at Ludlow Brewing Company Cody Palin said: "This is a great achievement for the brewery and a testament to the creativity of our team.

“Creating Jam Dunk was a labour of love, and it brings me immense joy to see it recognised in such a meaningful way.

"The Jam Factory came up with a name, and we came up with a modern session beer for them to offer as a permanent pour on their bar.

"Crafting this beer was a true adventure, and this award validates the countless hours of experimentation and refinement that went into creating its unique taste profile.

“This award is not just a reflection of our passion for brewing exceptional beer but also a promise to continue pushing the boundaries of flavour and quality.”

Mr Palin created the bold, colourful can design to align with the qualities of the beer, with help from a tattoo artist from Body Mods in Bewell Street, Hereford, who provided some of the artwork.

David Chantler, chairman of Ludlow Food and Drink Festival said:

“The festival has always been passionate about encouraging innovation and celebrating the best of the ‘new’ and it’s still as important as we enter our thirtieth year.

“The 2023 Gold Award winner, Ludlow Brewery’s Jam Dunk, epitomises what the awards are all about.

“Jam Dunk is a serious beer that integrates the flavours well. It was a refreshing offer and compared well with similar types of brews sampled in, let’s say, more metropolitan settings.

“We felt it was something that Ludlow could be proud of and demonstrated the way in which a local producer could move with the times without sacrificing their established quality in a dash for modernity.”
