THIS is the face of a 'dangerous' child rapist jailed for 24 years for a string of harrowing sexual assaults against young girls including in Shropshire and Worcestershire.

Glenn Poyner, of Oxfordshire, pleaded guilty in May 2023 to eight offences, including rape of underage girls.

The 35-year-old carried out the offences between 2018 and 2021 in Shropshire and Worcestershire. Now child rapist Glenn Poyner has been jailed after county attacks

Poyner, formerly of RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, admitted the rapes, one count of assault by penetration, one of causing a child aged under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and two of sexual activity with a child. He was previously pictured outside court, his face partially obscured by a hood.

Now his custody photo has been published by West Mercia Police.

He was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Friday.

Detective Sergeant Natalie Ryan, said: “We welcome the sentence that has been handed to Poyner today as this investigation was harrowing for all involved.

“Poyner is a highly dangerous individual who preyed on young girls, and it is incomprehensible that he would commit such crimes against them.

“My hope is that this substantial prison sentence will bring some measure of comfort to those whose lives have been damaged by Poyner’s predatory and sickening actions.”

An NSPCC spokesperson said: “Poyner has admitted and been sentenced for serious sexual offences against two girls. Child sexual abuse can have a significant and long lasting impact on young people and it is vital that the victims in this case are receiving all the support they need to move forwards with their lives.

“Child sexual abuse continues to take place at alarming rates – last year there were more than 105,000 offences recorded by police – and it is really important that communities across the country are aware of the risk and are ready to report it to the authorities or the NSPCC helpline if they think a child is at risk.”
