THE organisers of Ludlow's Pride event are hoping to "uplift, promote, support" LGBTQ+ people with a celebration taking place on the bank holiday weekend.

The event has been set up by Pride Ludlow, an organisation led by volunteers in the local community that aims to encourages and celebrates diversity among LGBTQ+ artists.

The biggest event of the weekend will be a family day to take place on Sunday. Entry will be free but donations be accepted to go towards the organisation's future community events.

Pride Ludlow said: "On Sunday August 27, from 10am to 5pm, join us at Ludlow Event Square for a non-ticketed, free, public event. Show up and dress to express! LGBTQIA+ and allies alike are welcome to this family friendly fun day.

"Throughout the day, there'll be stalls, facepainting, activities for kids, and a whole lot of shows."

The family day begins at 10am and features performances from LGBTQ+ artists like Mama G with a panto dame book reading, Maelou Pink singing original songs, a Madonna tribute show, Faye Bagley performing live music, and Smashby with original singing and dancing, finishing with a parade and an after party at Ludlow Brewery.

The after party tickets cost £5, and Pride Ludlow said: "Join us for a celebration of diversity at the Pride Ludlow after party! Get ready to dance the night away in the heart of Ludlow, surrounded by like-minded individuals who are proud to be themselves.

"Prepare to be entertained by amazing live performances from talented artists, DJs, and a vibrant atmosphere that will leave you energised and empowered. This incredible event is for everyone who believes in love, diversity and acceptance.

"Located at the iconic Ludlow Brewery, the venue offers a unique setting that perfectly complements the spirit of Pride. Let loose at this unmissable event.
