A TRANSIT van driver was more than twice the limit when he was caught out on the Shropshire border.
Guy Lynch entered a guilty plea to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in August.
The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 49-year-old had been caught out on the A456 at Wooferton on January 25 after getting behind the wheel of a Ford Transit while over the drink-driving limit.
An evidential blood test revealed that he had 163 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, more than twice the legal limit of 80.
Lynch, of Orchard Rise, Richards Castle, was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 18 months and fined £400 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £160 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
