AN INDEPENDENT Shropshire brewery is in a celebratory mood after further award success, which saw its iconic stout recognised on the national stage for a second year running.

Hobsons Brewery, based in Cleobury Mortimer, recently claimed silver in CAMRA’s Champion Bottled Beer of Britain award at the Great British Beer Festival in London, with its Dhustone stout placed second amidst a highly competitive shortlist.

Dhustone has also won the Real Ale In a Bottle round of CAMRA Champion Beer Of Britain regional awards 2022, as well as regional gold at SIBA’s 2020 Digital Beer Awards.

The name of the beer took its inspiration from dolerite, known locally as Dhu stone quarried at Clee Hill six miles away from the brewery.

Founder Nick Davis said: “Achieving silver at these awards is a real testament to the passion and dedication poured into each and every pint we craft — and to do it two years on the bounce with the same beer is a massive achievement for a brewery of our size. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved."
