AN electrical substation caught fire near Tenbury Wells after being caught by a gazebo during a storm. 

Crews from Tenbury and Wyre Forest were called to Eardiston shortly after 6.20pm on Saturday (July 8).

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "One twin pole-mounted substation had been struck by a gazebo in a localised storm.

“The fire had been extinguished prior to the crews’ arrival and a full check of the surrounding area was carried out with a thermal imaging camera.

“Crews cleared debris and foliage from the nearby carriageway and handed over the incident to the electricity company at 7.07pm.

“There were no casualties.”
