A MODERN nursing home hidden inside an elegant country manor is up for an award.

Bricklehampton Hall Nursing Home, between Evesham and Pershore, has been nominated for the Palliative/End of Life Award at this year’s Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards.

Matron, Shirley Grinnall, is over the moon to be in the running.

She said: “We are proud to be nominated for this award because our team prides themselves on providing a high standard of care, balancing the warmth and compassion of a family with passion and integrity you would expect from a care professional.

“Everyone deserves dignity and respect as they approach the end of their life.

“We take a sensitive and caring approach to end-of-life care, ensuring that medical, emotional, physical and spiritual needs are met.

“Our end-of-life care extends to supporting family at this difficult time.

“The team at Bricklehampton Hall share a common goal to create a place where people feel happy, safe and secure where their wishes are respected and their achievements celebrated.

“Our teams are chosen for their passion, professionalism and, above all, their ability to change someone’s day with their kind words, warm smile and caring approach.”

The home’s nomination comes just months after it was re-accredited for the Gold Standards Framework in end-of-life care, obtaining a Platinum Standard.

Mrs Grinnall added: “We are not a modern, purpose-built care home.

“Quite the opposite, in fact Bricklehampton Hall Nursing Home is an elegant regency style building which is set in beautiful relaxing gardens, with views over Bredon Hill and some of Worcestershire’s finest scenery.

“In contrast to its elegant historical surroundings, Bricklehampton hall is equipped with modern nursing facilities and is wheelchair accessible, striking a perfect balance between clinical excellence and comfortable living.”

The Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards are in partnership with the University of Worcester and seek to shine a light on the health and social care workers in Worcestershire who go the extra mile.

The 2023 awards will culminate in a black-tie dinner for all the finalists at the Abbey Hotel in Malvern on Thursday, September 14, where the winners will be announced.
