A GARDENER has won a professional award for her botanical garden.
Ros Bissell, head gardener at Moors Meadow Gardens at Collington, between Bromyard and Tenbury, has won the Central England Prestige Award for Botanical Garden of the Year for the second year running.
Ms Bissell said: “We’re extremely proud at this prestigious repeat recognition of the gardens. I'm constantly adding to the collection here, some of our trees and shrubs are rare in this country, and because we're so strictly organic the gardens are teeming with native wildlife.”
Moors Meadow is an eclectic garden designed to appeal to everyone from casual visitors to plant experts. The seven-acre hillside site offers views over the Kyre Valley and includes a variety of environments rich in unusual and exotic plants.
The Prestige Awards judging panel base their decisions upon areas such as service excellence, quality of the product or service provided, innovative practices, value, ethical or sustainable methods of working, as well as consistency in performance.
Moors Meadow has previously been recognised as the Most Romantic Garden in Central England by BBC Gardeners' World, was named the second Favourite Garden in Central England, and earned a bronze medal in Britain's Best Gardeners' Garden in 2015.
For over 20 years, Ms Bissell has opened the gardens for charity, supporting the National Gardens Scheme and St Michael's Hospice in Hereford.
