A CHARITY is planning to make changes to a historic building in Ludlow town centre after it recently moved in.
Hope House children's hospice moved from King Street to the grade II-listed 9 Castle Street as it signed an eight-year lease, but it now wants a painted sign on the shop front.
It had to apply to Shropshire Council for advertising consent, which was granted, but latterly also told it had to apply for listed building consent.
Consultants working on the scheme for the hospice said the sign would be painted using traditional methods by Andy Field of Field Signs UK).
According to the monument record, the shop at 9 Castle Street has existed as a shop since the late 18th century.
Consultants added: "This property falls within the Ludlow Conservation area so has historical significance."
Shropshire Council planners will decide on the application at a later date, with consultation open until April 27.
