Ludlow Town Council call for civic awards nomination

Nominations are open for the civic awards that will be presented in May.

There are awards for people aged over 18, those under 18 and for a community award.

To win an award there will be a need to demonstrate that the person being put forward has made a contribution to the town, the well being of residents or to have shown outstanding citizenships.

Other factor will be the provision of voluntary work, helping to make Ludlow a better place to live or putting the town on the map and raising awareness.

Any nominations considered must have been proposed and seconded by residents within the Ludlow Parish Boundary and or appear in the electoral register for Ludlow.

Members of the Council may in their private capacity nominate individuals but members of either Ludlow Town Council, Shropshire Council or staff working for either authority can be considered.

All nominations will need to be made with a statement as to why the individual or group is deserving of an award. The closing date for nominations is 12noon Tuesday, May 2 with winners notified after Wednesday, May 10.

Nominations will be considered by councillors and winner will receive a certificate.

Previous civic award winners include Helen Hughes, the former chief executive of the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, the late Joyce Brand, who died two years ago and had her campaigning on behalf of health services recognised.

Another past winner was Peter Corfield, who was for nearly two decades chairman of the Ludlow Hospital League of Friends. Mr Corfield died last year. The League of Friends raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the hospital.

Nominations can be made throughout March and April and winners will be invited to receive their awards at the annual Mayor Making in May when the accolades will be presented by the new Mayor.
