WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the plan which she believes will return the economy for stability and protect the elderly, vulnerable and lower paid households from the threat of continued rising prices.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt set out his plan to tackle inflation while increasing the budgets for education and health and social care totalling an extra £11 billion over the next two years.

“I welcome the publication of the long-awaited Office for Budget Responsibility Report and the steps the Chancellor has taken to reassure the global markets that the UK can pay its way,” said Mrs Baldwin, whose constituency includes Tenbury.

“The weaponisation of energy by the tyrannical Putin continues to have a huge impact on our economy but I know my constituents will welcome the measures announced by the Chancellor which will help people to manage their own budgets better through next year.

“I was particularly pleased to hear the Government’s continued manifesto commitment to the pension triple lock which was very important to many of my constituents. The increase in health and education spending will be good for our public services in Worcestershire.”
