KINVER kids Scarlett and Darcy Powis enjoyed the sweet taste of success after they held a bake sale at their Foster Street home.

The youngsters raised over £300 for both Macmillan Cancer Support and the RSPCA after Nannie Karen conjured up an array of home-made cakes which they sold from their garage.

Karen said: “Their grandad Stephen had made a sweet cart for my grandson’s christening but we were unable to use it because the event got cancelled when a number of family members went down with Covid.

“The girls wanted to use the sweet cart so we decided on the bake sale. My sister in law advertised the event on Facebook and loads of people turned up."

Anyone who missed out on the cakes can compensate by popping down to Wollaston Methodist Church on Saturday, October 1st as Sue McDowall and Sheila Wrigley are hosting a MacMillan coffee morning.

The event takes place from 9.30 until 11.30am when they’ll be plenty of home-made cakes on offer.
