LUDLOW artists are getting ready to show their work to people from the town and visitors

The Ludlow Art Society is holding its Summer Exhibition in St Laurence’s Church in the centre of Ludlow, from Saturday, up to, and including, Monday, August 29 when it will close at 5.00pm.

There will be a Preview Evening on tomorrow where the exhibition will be officially opened by Kim Begley, an opera singer and actor, now retired from the stage and living in Ludlow.

Kim Begley has performed leading roles at the opera houses in Frankfurt, Milan, Dresden, Amersterdam, Barcelona and Berlin as well as The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and San Franscisco Opera.

The Ludlow Art Society is pleased to have its 2022 Summer Exhibition opened by this distinguished member of another branch of the arts.

It is open on most days at 10.00am until 5.00pm, except on Sundays when it will open at 11.30am and on the second Sunday it will also close at 3.30pm.

On Saturday there will be a concert in the church from 12.30pm until 2.30pm during which time no-one will be allowed into the exhibition.

However, it promises to be well worth attending with artwork of various media, framed and unframed as well as 3D and digital art. Something to suit everyone’s pocket.

Ludlow and south Shropshire is popular with artists and photographers because of its beauty and also attractive towns.

Many of the artists get their inspiration from the places where they live and work.

The Art Society annual exhibition is traditionally held in August and previous venues have included the Assembly Rooms. Work will be for viewing and for sale.

Castle Bookshop sponsors the group that has a long history.

Entry is free but donations to the church and/or art society are welcome.
