A MAN has received a court bill of more than £400 for boarding a train without a valid ticket.

Kostadin Petrov, aged 31, was alleged to have entered a train for the purpose of travelling without having with him a valid ticket entitling him to travel in Poole on November 26 last year.

The offence was proved against the defendant, whose address was given as Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, under the single justice procedure.

He was sentenced at a closed-doors hearing on Thursday, June 23, at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

A single magistrate issued Petrov with a £220 fine along with an order to pay £4.60 compensation, £160 costs and £34 surcharge. The total court bill was £418.60.
