TWO HEREFORDSHIRE people have been sent to the crown court accused of abusing their position to make a gain of hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Dawn Smith and Michael Gwynne appeared before magistrates in Hereford each accused of one count of fraud by abuse of position.

The court heard the pair are accused of committing fraud while holding power of attorney positions, which expected them to safeguard the financial interests of another person, abusing that position intending to make a gain for themselves of £179,088.

Smith, who is 60 and of Percival Place, Newton St Margarets, and Gwynne, who is 53 and of Lewis Way, Peterchurch, entered no pleas and will appear before Worcester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on June 6.
