WITH just one day to go until we cast our votes in the local council elections, The National wants to know which parties will be receiving YOUR support.

On May 5, the people of Scotland will vote to elect local councillors in the 32 council areas.

The SNP are looking to hold onto their position as Scotland's dominant political force and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has described Thursday's vote as “the most important local elections in the history of devolution”.

Meanwhile, after a rough period for Douglas Ross and the Scottish Conservatives, Labour wants to make some ground having been beaten by the Tories back in 2017.

Under the STV system, voters rank the candidates in order of preference. They put a 1 next to their preferred candidate, a 2 next to their second, a 3 by their third, and so on. Voters do not need to number all the candidates. They can number as many or as few as they like.

Change in many councils could be on the horizon, so who are you backing in the 2022 local council elections?

Let us know below who is getting your first-preference vote, and tell us in the comments how you'll rank the other candidates, if you choose to do so.
