LUDLOW Rotarians are joining an international effort to alleviate the suffering caused by the war in the Ukraine with an estimated two million refugees leaving the war torn country.

Inside Ukraine Rotarians are supporting refugees displaced and on the move westwards.

In addition, they are supporting local services for the sick and injured.

The international club has volunteers at each border 24 hours each day.

Rotary is running a daily train into Ukraine with humanitarian supplies and returning with 600 to 700 refugees. Telephone Hotlines are open 24/7.

Rotary Germany has a webpage for refugees to find accommodation.

Moldavian Rotarians have taken over a 200 bedroomed hotel at the border for short stays of one or two days before relocation to accommodation around Moldova, then following up with refugees for day to day support once relocated.

During the year Ludlow Rotary Club runs a number of fund-raising initiatives. The unprecedented tragedy unfolding in Ukraine has prompted the club to now run an initiative to raise money to support refugees via Rotary Clubs in countries around Ukraine and in Ukraine itself.
