A TENBURY schoolgirl will be pulling on the Three Lions shirt after being chosen to represent England at football.

Grace Nascimento has been selected to attend the England Women’s Under 16 UEFA Development Tournament.

The Year 11 student at Tenbury High Ormiston Academy, who also plays for Aston Villa Women under-16s, will be attending the international tournament in Portugal later this year.

She said: “I am really excited to have been selected to play with the under 16s team, I can’t wait to play against some of the best players my age in the world.”

The development tournament has been set up by UEFA to offer young footballing talents an opportunity to play in an international match.

The matches are designed to prepare the players for future competitions and support them in developing key skills.

Grace has been playing from a young age and has previously played for her local team, Tenbury United.

Vicki Dean, principal at Tenbury High Ormiston Academy, said: “A massive well done to Grace for this fantastic achievement, she has worked incredibly hard.

“Grace has been a wonderful example to our younger students on how a strong work ethic and great determination can help you achieve amazing goals.”

Closer to home, the wet weather put paid to any hopes of competitive sport last weekend.

Tenbury United’s Herefordshire Division One game with Civil Service was postponed as was Tenbury Town’s trip to Ledbury Town Reserves in the same division.

On the rugby field, Tenbury RFC could not raise a team for the trip to Old Leamingtonians, conceding a walkover.
