THE Ludlow Rotary Club Tree of Light has again been giving people a special way of remembering loved ones that are no longer around.

This year the tree has a new set of lights and shining next to Ludlow Castle.

It has been decided that this year three quarters of the proceeds from the Tree of Light will go to Ludlow Young Health.

Ludlow Young Health is an initiative that is also supported by Robin Pote, mayor of Ludlow as the charity that he has chosen to raise money for during his year in office.

This provides help for young people in the town that are coping with mental health issues such as anxiety.

It has become even more crucial at this time because young people have had to deal with additional pressures associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

This includes not only the loss of education and having to work from home but also worries about their own health and the health of family and friends.

Covid-19 has made it impossible for young people to lead a normal social life and this has resulted in feelings of isolation and exclusion.

All of this on top of the usual pressures and emotional stresses that come with growing up.

The remaining quarter will go to Hands Together Ludlow, a group which co-ordinates volunteers to help in many different situations.

A wide range of people in this area, including young people, families and the elderly need support.

There are also problems with transport and isolation which are often felt more keenly in the rural areas that surround Ludlow.
