A GRATEFUL visitor to Ludlow has left a gift with a difference.

It is Banksy with knitting needles and was placed on the top of the post box in Ludlow town centre.

There is also a message: ‘A gift from a friend from out of town, to the kind people of beautiful Ludlow, I thank you for your hospitality. Queen Catherine watches over Ludlow once again. Merry Christmas to you all.’

This kind of public art is nothing new to Ludlow that has also seen murals mysteriously painted in the telephone kiosk nearby.

Catherine of Aragon was the wife of Prince Arthur before she married his brother Henry VIII after Arthur’s death.

The couple lived in Ludlow Castle before Arthur died. He had been heir to the throne.

He was taken to Worcester for burial and when Henry VII died his second son Henry VIII became King.
