THE Nigel Weaver Memorial Cup was held in honour of Lorna James at the Palmers Meadow in Tenbury.
The charity fun day was football and family focused with an amazing community contribution and attendance.
It raised more than £4,000 for a mental health charity.
The game was in memory of Ms James, who was a passionate football fan and played for the local Ludlow Women’s League then Driotwich Belles. The adult football match was a fitting tribute to her football legacy being played by old and new players from Tenbury Utd men’s team and Ludlow women’s league.
Ms James passed away in 2018 following experiencing severe mental health issues. Since her passing, her family have advocated for mental health awareness and at their request all funds raised will be donated to local mental health Springfield Mind, who were present. Mental health affects many and the funds raised will go to a helpline.
