TENBURY MP Harriett Baldwin did not take part in the vote on the suspension of Shrewsbury MP Owen Patterson in connection is lobby allegations.

Mr Patterson, who has subsequently resigned as an MP. had been found guilty of breaking lobby rules although he denied any wrong doing.

The Government won a vote to set aside his suspension but then changed its mind.

Mrs Baldwin, who West Worcestershire constituency includes Tenbury, was in Glasgow at COP26 and did not take part in the vote.

:“I was attending COP26 in Glasgow seeing the Chancellor’s impressive plans to finance the world’s transition to net zero targets so I did not take part in the vote on the Commons Standards Committee,” said Mrs Baldwin.

“I have enormous compassion for Owen Paterson, who has experienced a recent terrible tragedy when his wife took her life.”

She said everyone is entitled to have a fair hearing.
