A TENBURY pub says that it is investing with the opening of a carvery.

The Bridge in Tenbury was badly damaged in the flooding of February 2020 and has undergone almost a complete refit.

After this was completed, the country then went into lockdown again causing a double whammy.

But the pub says that it is bouncing back from both the flooding and the pandemic.

Now the pub is opening a carvery that will initially operate on Sunday afternoons but with the hope that this will increase.

Freya Ball, the manager, says that the pub has been through a tough time in line with the hospitality sector but says that things are looking up.

An initiative launched during the pandemic is really taking off.

“We started making and delivering burgers and these have proved to be very popular,” said Ms Ball.

It delivers the burgers free of charge to customers within a five mile radius.

The Bridge employs 14 people full and part time and is looking forward to Christmas.

“We are already taking Christmas bookings and are optimistic about the future,” added Ms Ball.

Tenbury is increasingly becoming a food and drink mecca with the opening of a number of food businesses in the past year.

In the past 12 months new openings include a sandwich shop opened by a former cabbie, a new fish shop and a burger restaurant as well as a Mediterranean style restaurant.

There has also been an expansion at Mr Thoms to include an enlarged outside eating area.

It all means that the town has an increase range of food styles available to visitors as Tenbury looks to expand as a tourist destination on the back of increasing visitor numbers this year.
