A PROTEST took place this morning outside the local children services building in Worcester.

Around twelve protesters gathered outside Wildwood in Wildwood Drive from 9am-12pm holding signs and a banner.

The banner read: "Social services. Stop using crystal ball laws to steal our children!! Social services. Stop telling lies to get court orders to steal our children! Social services. Stop covering up and ignoring our complaints."

The aim of the protest according to organisers was to make Worcestershire Children's First 'listen to their complaints.'

The Director of Children’s Services and CEO for WCF, said: “Worcestershire Children First staff keep children and young people at the heart of everything they do and we take steps to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm where it is necessary.

"We understand at times people can be unhappy about the interventions of children’s services in their lives.

"Through our quality assurance programme we are always listening to and learning from the experiences of children young people, parents and carers and we use this information to develop and improve our services.

"Everyone has the right to express their view through peaceful protest and or use of the complaints process.”

West Mercia Police officers attended the protest.

A spokesman said: "Officers have been facilitating a planned protest on Wildwood Drive, Worcester this morning. All protestors have now left."
