A Worcester school that recently opened up its grounds for weddings and events says it's already proving a popular venue for this autumn and 2023.

The River School has launched Oakfield Gardens and Events to share the school’s eight acres of Victorian arboretum and grounds.

The venue boasts a courtyard with an abundance of flora, Oakfield House itself, open fields, secret gardens and woodlands.

The school will be holding its second Wedding Fair from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday, October 16.

The twilight timing will allow those attending to view the different lighting options and will also include a free taster menu, drinks and crazy golf on the lawns.

Couples can register for free tickets by visiting https://www.oakfieldgardens.co.uk/wedding-fair.

Pete Graham, business manager at Oakfield Gardens and Events said: “We are so delighted to have launched this fabulous initiative.

The grounds at The River School are so beautiful and will lend themselves to both wedding and corporate events with both inside and outside spaces.”

Brides and bridegrooms-to-be will benefit from their own wedding co-ordinator and a package – entitled the Honeycomb Package due to the fact that there are seven on-site beehives – which includes two giant tipis, warm white pea lighting, bamboo candle lanterns, two flambeaux fires, dancefloor, tables and chairs, a fully staffed bar and luxury toilets.

Extras include personalised honey jars, hay bales and photo booths.

Adrian Parsonage, headteacher of The River School, said: “Our school grounds have long been cherished and nurtured by our school community.

"Opening them up to the wider public has always been part of our plans and we are thrilled that this has come to fruition.”

The River School is a Christian co-educational independent day school for pupils aged 2 to 16 years and is situated along the Droitwich Road in Fernhill Heath.
