PHILIP Dunne, MP for Ludlow, has welcomed announcement of an additional £5m for military charities offering support to veterans.
The Prime Minister announced a further £5m for military charities, building on the £10 million for military charities announced at this year’s budget and the £2.7 million announced last week for those facing complex mental and physical trauma.
Last week, the House of Commons resumed following the summer recess, and the Prime Minister updated MPs on the UK’s continued response to Afghanistan. This includes committing to resettle up to 20,000 Afghan refugees, hosting a G7 Leader’s Summit to coordinate the international community’s response and leading the way on a UN Security Council resolution which calls for safe passage for those leaving, urgent humanitarian access and respect for human rights, and insists that Afghanistan not be used to threaten other countries or shelter terrorists.
