THE Ludlow based British Hedgehog Preservation Society has released its 77th newsletter to almost 12,000 supporters.
It has an update on the petition BHPS ran, calling on the Government to increase protection offered to the hedgehog.
This was discussed in parliament in July and the Charity is continuing to campaign for this change in law.
Hedgehogs are endangered and yet face many challenges.
The Charity warns of the dangers of glue traps, litter, strimmers and bonfires to hedgehogs and how those risks can be reduced.
Robotic lawnmowers can cause terrible injuries and death to hedgehogs.
With autumn coming there is always the danger of garden fires as hedgehogs use woodpiles to hibernate.
The society is working with universities in order to try to create hedgehog friendly campuses.
A new Hogalogue gift catalogue was also distributed and is packed full of hedgehoggy goodies from Christmas cards and calendars to mugs, books, toys and socks!
