A SCHEME to encourage people to spend locally is back in business.

Ludlow Chamber of Trade Only in Ludlow Loyalty Card Scheme has just had their first hamper draw since Christmas.

After a number of pauses due to Covid, Ludlow Chamber is keen to get back to regular draws every quarter.

The scheme involves people signing up as supporters of Ludlow shops.

They have a card that is stamped when they purchase locally and when they have a sufficient number they are entered into a draw for a hamper of goodies from local traders.

Encouraging people to spend just a small amount of money in the town rather than outside or online can make a huge difference to shops and if they are able to survive.

Winners this time were Ludlovians; Mrs Chris Evans, Rachel Pitt and Mrs J Griffin, who, at the venerable age of 96 years young, is still a staunch supporter of local businesses. Prizes were handed out at the Ludlow Local Produce Market last Thursday, celebrating 21 years of trading.

The Loyalty Card Scheme rewards locals who use independent local shops and businesses with the opportunity to win a hamper packed full of local goodies donated by members.

Vicki Orttewell, Chair from the Chamber of Trade, says that businesses in the town really appreciate support from local people.

“It was great to get round and collect cards and prizes and chat to shop and business owners once again,” said Ms Orttewell.

“Everyone is so generous and really do appreciate returning loyal customers who have kept them all going during tough trading times.”

Blank cards are available in all participating businesses in town and customers receive a stamp for every purchase made. Get 20 stamps and you enter into the quarterly draws with a chance to win a hamper full of prizes donated by the scheme’s participating businesses
