THE Regal in Tenbury is up and running again with a programme throughout the summer and autumn that will culminate in the return of the end of year Christmas pantomime.

The historic venue that dates back to the 1930’s is putting what has been a dreadful past 18 months behind it.

Problems began in February last year when the building that received a major refurbishment grant from English Heritage a decade ago, was badly damaged by flooding.

This led to major works that were completed at the end of last year.

But the Covid-19 pandemic has also prevented a full return to normal.

During the school summer holiday the Regal is showing the film Peter Rabbit.

In September there will be a stage show ‘The Magic of the Musicals’ and also a night with the ‘Opera Boys.’

There is a busy programme in October including: ’an intimate evening’ with John Challis, who lives near Ludlow and is best known as Boycie from ‘only fools and horses.’

November includes the 50th anniversary of the ‘Simon and Garfunkel story’ and Mark Steel.

Then December starts with ‘Great Balls of Fire’ and this will be followed by the return of panto as local performers join the professionals for ‘Sleeping Beauty’ that will play through the Christmas period and into the New Year.

There are shows booked through to March 2022.
