A POPULAR eatery run by food writer and restaurateur Bill Sewell opens in Ludlow's Assembly Rooms tomorrow (Tuesday, July 27).

The iconic Ludlow venue has been undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment.

The eatery, Bill’s Kitchen, will, with the Visitor Information Centre and Gift Shop next door, be the first parts of the project to open.

Bill’s Kitchen in Ludlow will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 8pm.

It will serve breakfast, lunch and early evening food and wine, as well as all-day coffee and cakes.

Breakfast features bacon and sausages from the Tudge family at Richards Castle.

Lunch ranges from beef and ale pie to Bill’s award-winning quiches, through to rabbit with roast peppers and ‘nduja to lentil, leek and White Fox cheese bake with courgettes in tomato and basil sauce.

Early-evening service features small plates with cheeses from the Mousetrap cheese, which has shops in both Hereford and Ludlow, and locally produced cured meats, together with wines from Bentleys wine merchants.

Bill's Kitchen also has a branch in All Saints Church, High Street, Hereford.

As at All Saints in Hereford everything is being made on site in Ludlow, including the artisan breads for sandwiches and the cakes to go with the locally roasted Hundred House coffee.

Mr Sewell said: "I’m so excited to be bringing a much-loved Hereford institution to Ludlow.

"There’s a lot of excitement around the whole Assembly Rooms project, and we’re delighted to be a part of it."
