THERE continues to be an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Shropshire.
The number of people in hospital with the virus is also up.
But one good thing is that in the last week for which figures are available no one had died with the disease.
There were 1,037 new cases which was an increase of more than 82 per cent.
However, the level of infections in Shropshire remains below both the regional and national average.
In the county, the infection level was 320.9 per 100,000 population, compared with 477 in the West Midlands and 466.2 for the whole of England.
There were 11 people in hospital with the virus but no recorded deaths.
“The number of cases in Shropshire continues to rise sharply and hospitalisations are slowly increasing too," said Rachel Robinson, Shropshire director of public health.
"With most legal restrictions being lifted I urge everyone to remain cautious. I still strongly advise the use of face coverings, particularly in crowded places."
