A SECONDARY school on the Shropshire border tackling a coronavirus outbreak "on a different scale" has sent a year group home to self-isolate, just before the summer holidays.
With the school holidays starting on Wednesday, year nine at Wigmore High School will be in isolation for the first week after more confirmed coronavirus cases.
Year 10 has been worst affected by the outbreak, which headteacher Rob Patterson said last week was "on a different scale".
On top of that, staff at the school have been contacted by NHS Test and Trace to self-isolate, saying last week the impact of this was "quite serious".

In a further update on Tuesday, Dr Patterson said the school had been told about four further positive lateral flow tests.
"Given the recent context of cases we have been back in touch with the Department for Education coronavirus helpline and they advise that all year nine students who were in school on Thursday, July 15 and Friday, July 16 should now self-isolate along with a small number of additional contacts that we are in touch with.
"We understand that this should be from 10 days after the final contact which would be up to and including Monday, July 26."
A mobile testing unit was sent to the school last week to find if there were any more cases.
