THE Ludlow Repair Café is back.

After more than 18 months the battle against waste has been resumed as unwanted items get repaired rather than binned.

It will be happening as an actual on Saturday July 31, between 10am to 12 noon, at the Mascall Centre.

To keep everyone safe, it has been necessary to introduce some changes as to how the Repair Café will run on that day.

Only one item per owner will be accepted and items will have to be left for repair. Owners will be able to collect their items between 11.30 and 12.15.

The Repair Café can continue to take electrical goods but not TVs, plus the wide range of items which used to arrive on the day, garden and household tools, items of furniture and soft furnishing, clothing, toys, jewellery, IT equipment, ornaments and lamps. However, whatever is brought, it must be something which just one person can carry.

Di Lyle, who founded the Ludlow Repair Café in 2017, is delighted that this event is able to happen again.

“The past 18 plus months have been challenging for everyone but I am so grateful to the repairers who have continued to offer their services during the lockdown times,” said Ms Lyle.

“They have founded our ‘at home’ service which has thrived and which will continue for anyone unable, or who feels unsafe, to get to the Mascall Centre.”

She added that it will be a pleasure to welcome back the repair team in person, as well as owners and their broken or poorly items, on the day and hopes this will be the start of returning to the quarterly Repair Café meetings in future.

There is no charge for repairs, although owners are asked to pay for any parts required, but donations are welcomed and those donations help to keep the Repair Café going.
