MEMBERS of Tenbury Teme Valley Band were excited to be back to performing recently at St Mary’s Church Fete in Tenbury.

It had been 18 months since their last engagement.

The capacity audience enjoyed a varied repertoire including several new pieces. A particular favourite was Wellerman.

Mansel Leake had his debut as the band’s new Musical Director.

“It was such a wonderful feeling to get back to playing and entertaining the public,” said Mary Smith, secretary of the band.

“It was a very special venue to start our programme of engagements.”

The band already has a busy schedule ahead including Hope Bagot Open Gardens, Burford Garden Store Motor Show and Tenbury Applefest.

With 30 years of rich musical history the Band is proud of its heritage and its association with the town of Tenbury Wells, the Teme Valley and surrounding area. The Band normally performs throughout the year at concerts, fetes and charity events and looks to the future, with enthusiasm, with the formation of its Academy.

The Band performs music from a wide variety of different genres including classical, rock, popular, music from the shows and original works. Tenbury Teme Valley Band is a Symphonic Concert Band, as all woodwind and brass instruments are played.

In 2021 Tenbury Teme Valley Band is proud to continue to help raise considerable amounts of money for charities and organisations.

Last year despite the pandemic, money was raised for the Green Fingers Charity, which provides sensory gardens for children’s hospices, St Mary’s Church, Richard’s Castle Soap Box Derby, Tenbury Applefest, Tenbury Church of England Primary Academy, MIND and the Regal Tenbury Trust.

Rehearsals are on Saturday evenings at 6pm at Tenbury Primary Academy.
