TENBURY Wells and Cleobury Mortimer maintained their unbeaten, table-topping starts to the Worcestershire Cricket League season.

Tenbury stay atop Division Eight West after Rob Farrar (68), Tom Gloster (66), Alfie Watts (61) and Andrew Adams (53) led them to 329-4 against Hagley thirds, who fell for 128 in reply, Jamie Farrar taking 5-34.

Cleobury (79-8) remain top of Division Seven after a narrow, low-scoring win over Birlingham (75).

In the Shropshire League, man of the match Luke Miles helped Ludlow bounce back from successive Premier Division losses with a cracking 145-run win at Madeley.

Miles hit 48 in an opening stand of 111 with Sam Alford (58) that helped Ludlow post 228 and he then took 5-21 to blitz Madeley for 83 in reply.

Ludlow seconds won a much closer game by one wicket in Division Two, edging Sentinel’s 205 as Simon Miles (13no) and James Lawrence (5no) saw them home at 208-9 after Will Gough’s 57.

Thomas Moulder’s unbeaten 102 was not enough for Bishops Castle (208-6) as they were edged out by Condover (209-7) in Division Four.

Church Stretton (123) beat Willey (70) in Division Five, while Corvedale (132-4) top Division Six after Jim Alderson’s 5-23 beat Chirk (128).

In the Marches League Division Two, Knighton-on-Teme (204-6) lost to Hay-on-Wye (205-8).
